Data Collection & Usage
Handie is designed with privacy as its core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, including images or video feeds from your camera. All processing is performed locally on your device.
Camera Access
Handie requires access to your device's camera solely for the purpose of real-time hand gesture recognition. This process happens entirely locally within your browser. No video data is ever recorded, saved to your disk, or sent to any remote server. The camera feed is processed in real-time frame-by-frame and discarded immediately after gesture detection.
Permissions Explained
We ask for the minimum permissions required to provide functionality:
Camera
Required to detect hand gestures locally via the getUserMedia API.
Storage
Used to save your local preferences (e.g., scroll speed, cursor color, blocked URLs).
Tabs & ActiveTab
Used to switch, close, or organize browser tabs based on your hand gestures.
Host Permissions (All URLs)
Required to inject the hand tracking script into web pages so you can control them (e.g., scrolling, clicking) with gestures.
